Social Work assessments help social work practitioners gather information about a family’s individual needs by working in partnership with them and other professionals to determine the most appropriate support and the best course of action to ensure the child/ren’s safety and well- being.
We offer seven days a week, 24/7 welfare visits to families during court process with quality assured reports on each visit.
We have a trained team of Domestic abuse workers, Drugs and Alcohol workers and Gang workers to assess highlighted risks from parents.
We use the PAMS assessment tool (Parents Assessment Manual) when undertaking parenting assessments with parents who have a learning need.
Our service is underpinned by the UK Social Work core values which include being independent, transparent, fearless, ambitious, collaborative and most importantly working with integrity with our families.
We believe in a holistic social work approach of bringing therapeutic services together with Independent Social Work practitioners to support the parents in working together as separated and blended families both pre and during these difficult court proceedings. As such, we have designed a specialist trauma-based assessment to support parents and children.
We believe each parent should be afforded a safe and confidential space to talk about their feelings separate to the assessment process but during the family law process. The director found these confidential support interventions (such as therapeutic/ life coaching) allowed her to separate her own feelings during the court assessment process and prioritise her child’s needs during the court process whilst having the option to speak about her own emotions with a life coach and EFT practitioner in a safe environment.
The biggest lesson learned from this was that it’s essential that the parents’ trauma from the pre court process is acknowledged during the assessment process by the assessor and by the courts who are making life changing decisions. This model of the holistic trauma-based parenting assessment is a comprehensive new approach to the assessment process to assist the families to achieve the right outcomes for them which are more sustainable long term. We have also developed a parental alienation assessment and able to assess coercive control.
A new and unique parenting assessment model assessment that combines social work approaches with optional therapeutic services at the assessment stage.
We work with the parents to look at their ability and understanding of their roles in adequately providing for and safely meeting the needs of their children. We also offer parental alienation and coercive control assessments.
If there is a court order for a section 37 report we will assess any alleged/ potential child safeguarding concerns. This will determine whether there is a need for the Local Authority to consider, ‘whether it should be taking further steps to protect the child’ such as initiating public law proceedings.
If there is a court order for a section 7 report we can undertake these and provide comprehensive court statement reporting on the issues of contact and residence for the child/ren.
We are able to be a sounding board for parents who want to discuss and better understand the assessments/ statements and reports written about them and their family throughout the court process.
We can provide an independent audit of your case.
